CHIRON AI is a project by Team Chiron, based at Carnegie Mellon University, that focuses on developing robotic systems for assessing casualties and monitoring vital signs. The aim is to optimize first responder deployment by creating non-invasive, remote detection methods for injury assessment. Competing at the DARPA Triage Challenge, the system uses advanced technologies like VIS/SWIR imaging, thermal cameras, radar, and motion-tracking LiDAR to identify and classify human injuries from a distance of 1-10 meters. This effort involves a diverse team of experts in robotics and medicine and seeks technology partners and funding sponsors to support advancements in health technology and autonomous robotics.
• remote detection of human injuries
• use of multi-modal sensor packs
• non-invasive assessment
• autonomous robots for triage
• thermal and radar imaging technology
