ScanRelief is a tool that scans receipts and invoices, renames the files, and generates an Excel sheet with the extracted data. It uses OpenAI to analyze the receipt images. Why do I see 'Low rate at OpenAI (Tier 1): 18 receipts/min'?
When you have spent less than $5 with openai, they put you on a low rate limit (Tier 1). This means you can process no more that 18 receipts a minute. OpenAI increases your rate limit if you use it more.
How can I get the best scanning results?
Take sharp, clear photos of your receipts. For best results, take a close-up photo rather than a distant shot. Make sure to photograph only one receipt per image.
What are the scanning costs?
Scanning one receipt costs approximately $0.005 (0.5 cents). For example, processing 100 receipts would cost about 50 cents.
What file formats are supported?
The application supports both text-based and image-based PDFs, as well as common image formats like JPEG and PNG. Note that HEIC images can be processed on Windows, and MacOS no older than version 12.
Are there any image size limitations?
No, photos are automatically resized to a maximum of 768x2048 pixels, which is the maximum size that OpenAI's API can process. Resizing before sending preserves bandwidth and increase repsonse times.
My invoice says 'due on <today>'. What does that mean?
The stripe payment provider unfortunately puts this on invoices automatically. It is confusing, but you can ignore it. Your receipt (proof of payment) is attached to the same email.
Why does ScanRelief process my receipts at a 'low' rate (1/3s)? Why do I see 'openai rate limit: 30000 tokens per minute.'?
If you have very recently registered an API payment method, you get a low rate from OpenAI (1 receipt per 3 seconds) until you used $5 worth of processing. After that, the rate will increase to the rate that usually allows processing large amounts in parallel.
What is the difference between my ChatGPTt subscription and the OpenAI API (Application Programming Interface) subscription?
The ChatGpt subscription is for the OpenAI chatbot. It cost $20 a month for plus use (gpt-4o, etc.). The OpenAI API subscription is a subscription for direct server-access to AI models.
