How are tokens calculated?
Tokens are roughly equivalent to words. For example, 1 million tokens is similar to the number of words in the Bible.
How do I know which plan is right for me?
We recommend starting with the free tier. Once your usage exceeds the free limits, we'll suggest the appropriate plan based on your activity levels.
Can I change my plan later?
Yes, you can upgrade or downgrade your subscription at any time via a "manage subscription" link we provide to you.
Are there any rate limits?
No, there are no rate limits. You can use your tokens as fast or as slow as you want during the month. Tokens reset at the beginning of the next billing cycle. If you hit the limits of your plan, you can upgrade to a higher plan to continue using PolyChat.
Can I use my own API keys?
Yes! If you provide your own API keys for providers like OpenAI, Anthropic, Groq, etc., you'll only be charged for messages, not tokens, since the provider bills you directly for token usage. When using your own API keys, we offer a different pricing structure with unlimited tokens but a limit on messages per 2-week period. You can toggle between the two pricing modes at the top of this page to compare.
Do tokens used by free models count towards anything?
No, the tokens won't count towards anything but messages still will.
