Which AI models does GreenPT use?
We use two self-hosted models: Gemma 3 for our GreenL service and QwQ for our GreenR service. Both models are open source and run on our sustainable infrastructure.
What is Gemma 3?
Gemma 3 is Google's latest open source model and successor to Gemma 2. It introduces multimodality, supporting vision-language input and text outputs.
What is QwQ?
QwQ is the reasoning model of the Qwen series. Compared with conventional instruction-tuned models, QwQ, which is capable of thinking and reasoning.
Why did you choose open-source models?
Open-source models align with our values of transparency and community. They allow us to self-host, optimize for efficiency, and provide a more sustainable service while maintaining high performance.
How does your model hosting work?
We only host models locally on our servers - we don't use external APIs or services. This means your data never leaves our infrastructure and isn't shared with any third parties.
How does the performance compare to proprietary models?
Our models have been carefully selected and fine-tuned to provide performance comparable to proprietary alternatives while being more environmentally conscious and cost-effective.
Where is our data hosted?
Our infrastructure is hosted by Leafcloud in The Netherlands, ensuring compliance with European data and privacy regulations.
How do you protect user data?
We implement strict data protection measures and comply fully with GDPR requirements. All data is processed within the EU, and we maintain transparent data handling practices.
What data do you collect and store?
We minimize data collection to only what's necessary for service operation. No conversation data is permanently stored, and the AI models we use don't retain any information from interactions.
How is GreenPT environmentally friendly?
Our infrastructure runs entirely on renewable energy, and we use heat recovery systems to repurpose server heat for community heating.
What about the environmental impact of AI training?
We acknowledge that the initial training of AI models, including the ones we use, wasn't conducted on green infrastructure. However, we're working with the open-source community to develop more sustainable training practices.
How does your infrastructure reduce environmental impact?
Our servers are strategically placed in urban buildings where we can reuse the heat generated by computations. This dual-use approach significantly reduces our carbon footprint.
