What does MyReport do?
MyReport is a tool that compiles information and presents it in an organized manner, either as an essay or report. The user provides a title and abstract, and the word count; the output is a Google Workspace Document shared via a link. It's useful for various applications, from creating initial documents to research essays.
How long will the report remain available in the system?
Generated reports are typically deleted 90 days after creation. Save a copy, download, or export to keep them permanently.
Which languages are supported by MyReport?
Currently, reports are generated in English, Spanish, or French. The report description (title and abstract) can be in any language, but the output report will be in one of the supported languages.
What MyReport DOES NOT do
MyReport does not create new concepts, perform deductive/inductive analysis, generate business ideas, investment recommendations, or strategies. It collects information and generates a starting document. It doesn't replace human researchers, but provides a starting point by gathering and presenting information from various sources. This is a self-imposed limitation to prioritize demonstrable information over speculation.
Where does the information for the report come from?
Information is automatically searched on the internet; the tool selects the most relevant sources and information. Users can specify links to publicly available data or whitelist sites/domains to narrow the search. Professional plans allow connecting with user data documents through a shared drive.
How are public URLs that I specify as a source of information handled?
The system extracts information (where permitted) from provided links, selecting the most appropriate parts for the report's objective. Up to 20 links are allowed, and they should point to web pages, documents, spreadsheets, presentations, or images. Information should be in supported languages. Publicly accessible links are required, and sub-links are not followed. Anti-bot mechanisms may block retrieval.
How can I restrict the search for information only to some domains or sites?
You can add up to 5 sites or domains to a whitelist. The tool will search only those sites for information, instead of the entire web. Information should be in supported languages, and sites must be publicly accessible. Anti-bot mechanisms may block retrieval from some sites.
How can I share my documents with the tool, so the reports are generated with them?
Professional plans allow sharing documents and data with MyReport as information sources. Create a Google Drive folder, share it with viewer permissions to googledrive@myreport-2022.iam.gserviceaccount.com, and avoid sharing with “anyone with the link.” Files are only read during generation and not used for AI training. Remove permissions when finished.
When it is useful to work with my own data?
Use your own data when you have a collection of documents with enough data to generate a report, but lack the time to select and summarize relevant information. Let MyReport handle the heavy lifting!
What are the limitations for sharing and using my documents?
Currently, only Google Drive is supported. The system uses all files in the folder and subfolders; avoid shortcuts unless the destination is also shared. Include only relevant documents to speed processing. A maximum of 100 files (100MB each) is allowed; Google documents cannot exceed 10MB. Supported file types include web pages, documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and images. Do not include compressed files. Information should be in supported languages. For spreadsheets, provide descriptive text alongside tables.
Is my shared data private and safe?
Your data is kept private and secure. Files are read only during report generation, and not stored or used for AI training. Platform access is secured with user authentication, and communications are encrypted.
Recommendations for sharing private data with the tool
For spreadsheets, provide descriptive text about data sources and purpose. Include only relevant documents for faster processing. Share a folder with our account and add/remove documents as needed. How are the information sources referenced?
Currently, sources are referenced using IEEE style (with APA as an option). Formatting relies on information sources providing title, author, and date, primarily available for academic sources. Other styles (MLA) are in development.
How can I get better reports or avoid failures and misunderstandings?
For better reports, ensure the title and abstract match the topic, use normal text (avoid capital letters or keywords), avoid lists in the summary, use complete sentences, avoid micromanaging sections, expand acronyms, and provide specific details (geographic area or time period). MyReport doesn't know your personal information. The system relies on sufficient sources in supported languages.
