About
The a2 Collective represents the Artificial Intelligence and Technology Collaboratories (AITC) for Aging Research program, funded by the National Institute on Aging (NIA) under the NIH. With a focus on applying AI and emerging technologies to enhance the health and quality of life for older adults, especially those with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, the AITC has allocated $40 million to support promising AgeTech projects. Awardees may access various resources including study sites and data, receive mentorship from experts in multiple fields, and are eligible for AWS credits. Additionally, they can compete for further grant funding opportunities. The a2 Collective encompasses three AITCs located at Johns Hopkins University, the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and the University of Pennsylvania, as well as a coordinating center managed by Rose Li & Associates. Looking ahead, the a2 Collective organizes a range of events and competitions, including the annual a2 Pilot Awards, encouraging participation from private companies and research organizations. This initiative aims to leverage AI technologies to address the aging population's healthcare needs, with projections indicating that by 2034, 77 million Americans will be 65 or older.
