Bounie is a news website that uses AI to help generate conversation and organize user-contributed content. Users can create headlines, and then contribute reports, images, links, and opinions to build a dynamic story. The order of content is determined by user voting. Bounie aims to create a collaborative and open news source, with moderators and administrators to ensure quality and compliance with rules.

Bounie is a news website where anyone can contribute. It all starts with a good headline. Users can then contribute related information, images, links and opinions to build out a full story. This results in articles that are dynamic feeds of engaging content instead of traditional walls of text. Together we can reinvent the news.
Bounie introduces a concept we call dynamic stories. These are stories that are broken up into bite sized pieces where the order in which you consume them is dynamic. Instead of a story being a fixed piece of content with a specific order to its topics, Bounie users vote to order the most engaging and relevant pieces of the story. Bounie also incorporates user comments as part of the story, not a separate section.
Bounie labels itself as an open news source. This term is inspired by open source software. Open source software is software that anyone can contribute to. This is how most great software is made. Similarly, anyone can contribute to the news on Bounie. We think this can revolutionize how articles are created and consumed. Instead of an article being a wall of text written by typically one author, Bounie articles are made up of contributions from a diverse range of authors.
Headlines are what guide the conversation and reports on Bounie so they are very important. A headline should be a brief descriptive statement about the story. Once a headline has been created any user can contribute to the story.
A report should be an unbiased addition to the story the headline is describing. If you instead want to comment your opinion on a story please add an Opinion Contribution instead. For example, if the story is about a new album coming out, a good contribution would be: A break down of the album, like the list of songs. Information about the recording process of the album.
An image contribution should be directly related to the story. For example, if the story is about a new album coming out, a good contribution would be: The album artwork. A meme related to the album. Yes memes are allowed, this is the open news after all.
A link contribution should be directly related to the story you are adding it to. For example, if the story is about a new album coming out, a good contribution would be: A link to a review of the album on YouTube. A link to listen to the album. An article about the album. This includes linking to related headlines from Bounie.
An opinion contribution lets you share your personal opinion about a story. If you instead want to contribute information about the headline add a Report Contribution instead. For example, if the story is about a new album coming out, a good contribution would be: A personal review of the album.
Reputation points, or rep for short, are used to rank users based off the contributions they have added to Bounie. By being a positive contributor to Bounie you will gradually gain rep. We use the amount of rep users have as one of the factors to determine if they are eligible to become a mod. In the future we also plan on doing fun things like sending free Bounie merch to users with a lot of rep.

You can earn Reputation points in the following ways: Add a headline: +10 Rep Add a contribution to a story: +5 Rep Receive a like on your headline: +1 Rep each like Receive a upvote on your contribution: +1 Rep each upvote

Moderators, or mods for short, are an essential part to the ecosystem. Due to the open nature of Bounie where anyone can contribute, we need mods in place to enforce our rules. Mods have the added ability to revert the actions of users. They can remove headlines, contributions and tags from stories that violate our rules. The goal of Bounie is to be as open as possible, so all mod actions are reviewed by admins to determine it was a justified moderation. If it is determined a moderation should not have been done, then the moderation will be reverted.
You can upgrade your account to a mod account once you have proven that we can trust your contributions to Bounie. This is determined by how long you have had an account on Bounie and the amount of rep your account has. You can check your account status for becoming a mod by selecting "Become A Mod" in the user menu.
Admins are one rank above mods. They have proven to Bounie over time that there judgement can be trusted. Admins have the added responsibility of reviewing mods actions for integrity.
