What are Type's Speed and Power modes?
Type offers two AI modes: Speed (near-instant, lower quality) and Power (slower, higher quality). Speed uses GPT-3.5 Turbo and Claude Haiku; Power uses GPT-4o and Claude 3.5 Sonnet.
Are there any limits on GPT-4 or Claude 3 usage?
In Power mode, basic rate limits apply, resetting roughly every 30 days. Limits protect the service. Email hello@type.ai for one-time resets. No limits in Speed mode.
Can AI make mistakes?
AI can make mistakes; it may generate inaccurate information, misinterpret context, or produce biased outputs. Always fact-check important information.
How do I make AI-generated content sound more human?
There's no quick way to make entirely AI-generated content human. Include human experience, feelings, cultural references, opinions, etc. Use Type to generate and then add personal details, or generate content as you write.
How do I organize my Type documents?
Documents are in the "Draft" folder. Create folders using the + icon. It's a nesting system; folders can contain files and subfolders.
How do I create a new document?
Click "+ New Document" or tap the A key. New documents appear in your Drafts folder.
How do I get Type to learn my writing style?
Type automatically mimics formatting, voice, and knowledge from your document. More detail improves AI output. Include style instructions if automatic mirroring fails.
How do I get Type to continue writing something I've started?
Use inline AI commands (tap "/") to generate text at your cursor. These commands analyze your document and generate matching text.
Can Type help me rewrite something?
Highlight text, use a Brush (for common rewriting tasks) or "Custom transform" with your instructions to rewrite.
How do I write with GPT-4 or Claude 3?
Tap the lightning bolt icon for Power Mode (GPT-4 or Claude 3). Switch models via the three dots in the toolbar.
Can I upload or import documents into Type?
Copy and paste content. Up to 5 knowledge and 1 style attachments (50 pages each). Use the Clipboard icon to create a new attachment.
How do I export my document?
Export to PDF, .DOCX, HTML, Markdown via the three dots in the toolbar. Copy-pasting also retains formatting.
How do I share a document with someone?
Export or share a view-only URL. Publish to your Type blog. Shared documents update automatically.
What languages can I use with Type? How do I change the language?
Type automatically detects language. If needed, specify language in your prompt or document. GPT-4 supports 200+ languages.
